This is something my mom has told me many a time (wish I'd listened to it sometimes!). Especially when dealing with rude comments, etc., she always said not to say a word, but just look at them. Evidently this piece of wisdom was quoted in Ann Landers a long time ago. For those young ones who don't remember AL, she had a newspaper advice column. Anyone else remember?
