Sunday Secrets: October, 2009

PostSecret is an ongoing community art project where people mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a homemade postcard. I find it to be an insightful sociological experiment.

I haven't posted in a while, so here are various finds from Frank's October blog posts:

Time for me to create some more happiness.

Love brownies. Will use this idea for enhancement.

Ditto for my husband. I consider it my laundry fee.
Mostly I find pennies or candy wrappers.

Now they can do their own laundry, among other amazing feats.

For years, I've told my daughters
they will learn the things I know
in the pages of the "Mommy Manual."

Oh, to be a Pig

If you yelled for eight years, seven months and six days you would have produced enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee.
(Hardly seems worth it.)

If you farted consistently for six years and nine months, enough gas is produced to create the energy of an atomic bomb.
(Now that's more like it !)

The human heart creates enough pressure when it pumps out to the body to squirt blood 30 feet.
(O.M.G.!)

A pig's orgasm lasts 30 minutes.
(In my next life, I want to be a pig.)

A cockroach will live nine days without its head before it starves to death.
(Creepy.) (I'm still not over the pig.)

Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories an hour.
(Don't try this at home, maybe at work.)

The male praying mantis cannot copulate while its head is attached to its body. The female initiates sex by ripping the male's head off.
(Honey, I'm home. What the...?!)

The flea can jump 350 times its body length. It's like a human jumping the length of a football field.
(30 minutes... Lucky pig! Can you imagine?)

The catfish has over 27,000 taste buds.
(What could be so tasty on the bottom of a pond?)

Some lions mate over 50 times a day.
(I still want to be a pig in my next life....quality over quantity.)

Butterflies taste with their feet.
(Something I always wanted to know.)

The strongest muscle in the body is the tongue.
(Hmmmmmm......)

Right-handed people live, on average, nine years longer than left-handed people.
(If you're ambidextrous, do you split the difference?)

Elephants are the only animals that cannot jump.
(Okay, so that would be a good thing?)

A cat's urine glows under a black light.
(I wonder who was paid to figure that out?)

An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain.
(I know some people like that.)

Starfish have no brains.
(I know some people like that too.)

Polar bears are left-handed.
(If they switch, they'll live a lot longer.)

Humans and dolphins are the only species that have sex for pleasure.
(What about that pig??)

Say It Hot

When my passion starts bubbling up, I'll be sure to write. Until then, I'm not pushing myself to blog. I am starting to feel some of the weight of the world lift (lots of little weights, really, nothing major). When that happens, I'll share again.

Until then, I'll be fairly still.

Sunday Secrets: Oct 04, 2009

PostSecret is an ongoing community art project where people mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a homemade postcard. I find it to be an insightful sociological experiment.

These three cards are from last Sunday's postings...

??????????????????
Can someone explain this one to me?
Is it, perhaps, about keeping family secrets?
Or do they all need to have their teeth whitened?

Scary!

:: giggle :: See yesterday's video!

The newest PostSecret book was released on October 6th!
Post Secret: Confessions on Life, Death, and God

I received mine on Wednesday and took a browse through it.
I'm going to treat myself to a good long read this afternoon.
I like the new format ... the book itself is barely larger than the post cards it holds.

In every book, Frank puts one of his own secrets. He said two of his are in this book, both on page 103. Can you guess which are his?

The photo above? Frank stopped by his old high school and donated a copy of his new book to the school library. That's the inscription inside the front cover.

What's the Opposite of Road Rage?

Seems all I blog any more is fun things I find online. Ah, well. I'll get back to posting my own thoughts and projects again one of these days.

I'm going to be like this old lady when I grow up!

Sunday Secrets: September 27, 2009

PostSecret is an ongoing community art project where people mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a homemade postcard. I find it to be an insightful sociological experiment.

Two of these cards are from last Sunday's postings. The third is one I saved from last July.

My dad died over 10 years ago.
I still get mail seeking donations addressed to him
from the Republican Party.

I get secret pleasure from ripping it to pieces
and tossing it in the trash.

I did get a chance to thank some of the people
that made a huge difference in my life.
Their responses were quite heartening.

Yes.
Thank you.

Giant Slip-n-Slide

Don't try this at home.

[This is a bit of an experiment ... embedding a Facebook video on my blog.]
