This was an ideal way to end
a wonderful Spring Break with my Jodie.

In the Wetlands

Jodie and I took a "field trip" yesterday to the wetlands.
What a glorious way to spend an afternoon.

Miss Rosy

The Saga of Miss Rosy, begun in May 2011, is finally complete. With the rise of my interest in photography, I just haven't been doing as much counted cross-stitch. So Miss Rosy sat neglected for months at a time. But here she is! In all her glory!

I remember the details in each leaf.

And the beauty of the backgrounds.

I appreciate how I finished her simply, as a bell pull.

She is resplendent!

Now she resides with her sisters
on the wall of our dining room.

Looks a Little Fishy to Me

Here's the second card I made recently.

More parchment card stock. More purple fibers.

Another button from Grandma's button bin.

And a design that was a tad more challenging.

It's a wonderfully expressive hobby.

Wheeling It Out

I was in the mood to make some cards.

My method? Embroidery on paper.

The purple variation of color adds to the motion.

And the button is the icing on the cake.

Thanks for Everything

My photography teacher challenged me to make a heart-shaped bokeh.

Sharin' the Light

Battery Point Lighthouse
Crescent City, CA

In 2011, my daughter Jodie and I went on a trip during Spring Break. Today, I was reminded about this lighthouse which we saw on that trip. It was a very windy day!

This year, we hope to spend Spring Break together again, perhaps visiting the Oregon coast. I'm looking forward to seeing what lights our way.

Roses in the Window

This is sort of a goofy photo, I'll admit.
But I like it.
There's a story here.

Gift Bags
My brother-in-law took a trip to Italy around Christmastime. Last week was the first time we got to spend some time with him since he got back. Being a good brother-in-law and uncle, he brought beautiful silk scarves home for me and my daughters. They came wrapped in bright orange gift bags.

We dropped the bags on the table as we continued our conversation. After he left, I sat back down to my computer. The handles of the bags stuck up over the back of my laptop and their inverted U shape tickled me. So I snapped some photos.

I like this one in particular because the rose from this blog is echoed in the background. The mirror hanging on the wall has roses etched in the glass. The mirror is also reflecting the rose painting that my mother-in-law made for me. The handles of the orange bags pick up the color of the rose on my blog. And the deep brown wall color provides a rich warm backdrop to the bag handles.

Synergy!

Lily

I received a bouquet of roses and lilies from my husband for the anniversary of the day we met.
