Guess who dug into her patterns, fabric, and floss?
I've been away from my embroidery needles for far too long.
I've kitted up a couple very small projects to make a little somethin' somethin' for a friend.
The thing about Autumn ...
it comes on slowly.
The warm days shift to chilly mornings.
Our short sleeves grow long.
The skies shift from blue to grey.
And the leaves ...
oooo, they have a shift all their own.
The waning sun makes Autumn's dying leaves magical. It's good to be alone in the woods to witness the wonder. I think I saw a wood nymph out of the corner of my eye.
Last month, life got in the way of celebrations
My Julie turned 29 years old
She received a phone call with birthday songs and wishes
Then attention returned elsewhere
Today, Dale and I took a vacation day
Top down on the convertible
Elton John on the air waves
Down to Moscow we flew
For THIS girl
One of my long-time friends had a birthday last month. I decided to take some time in my Studio to play and make him a card. I found an adorable card on Pinterest that I used as inspiration.
I printed out the bird design, then layered it on a blank card with a bit of scrapbooking paper and a privacy design from the inside of an envelope. Then I embellished the birds, making them fuzzy by trimming the pile off red and yellow pom poms and glueing it to the birds' bodies. For fun, I added the google eyes. I was able to use the grid of the scrapbook paper to keep my lettering even.
I finished off the card by printing a birthday greeting and gluing it inside the card, adding a sparkly sticker just for fun. It's a good thing this friend has a good sense of humor.
