Throwback Thursday: Columbine

Four of my favorite photos of the columbines that lived in the yard of our Post Falls home.

Poppies in the Sun

Clusters are poppin' up all over town this week!

They're so bright, they almost hurt your eyes.

Forget-Me-Not

I've always loved the name of this flower. It's as small as my thumbnail.

Here, I played in the editing program again, giving extra texture to the background.

Ripple Roses

I had some fun in my photo editing program today. Now and again, it's good to simply play.

Gift from My Daughters

I took this photo in 2007. It's a locket my daughters gifted to me. I love it.

Eugene Park Tour - Bramblewood Park

This gem of a park is only 10 minutes from home. We were there on a most gorgeous afternoon with bright skies dotted with puffed clouds.

The park was fairly quiet since kids were in school. But we did meet about six dogs and their owners. They were taking a walk on the paved path that follows the perimeter of the park.

Flat Creek runs along one edge of the park, hidden in a gully among the brambles.

There's a large, manicured green space that fills most of the park. It invited me to fly a kite, but I didn't have one with me.

So picturesque. There are a few benches and picnic tables to give a place to rest or watch the kids climb on the play structure.

There's even a single basketball hoop for a quick game of h-o-r-s-e or to practice lay-ups jump shots.

Dale took most of today's photos. I was scrambling around on my knees, searching for macro shots.

Petals of Blue

Who knew? If you look close enough, a daffodil's petals have blue in them.

In the Center

I've decided to give myself another photo challenge. For much of the month of May, I plan to return to my first love, macro photography. I'm calling my challenge #macromay

I hope to get my "big girl camera" out much more often. But I also want to see what my phone's camera can do on the macro setting. Then I want to play with microscopes. I have a digital microscope that is yet to be unpacked, and a real-life scientific microscope that hasn't seen the light of day in a few years.

We'll see. I'll take it a day at a time.

Undoubtedly, there will be a multitude of flower photos. They are what drew me to close-up photography in the first place. Perhaps I'll find bugs and leaves and threads and art supplies to take a closer look at, too.

I captured quite a number of macro images when visiting Ruff Park when the magnolias were blooming last month. I'll start there. Here's the center of a blossom. I swoon over the colors and textures.
