26 in 2026

New year, new set of goals.

Word of the Year - Retire

Dale and I are in retirement, but I'm not very good at acting like I am. So this year I'm going to practice:

  • Learning to have fewer demands on myself
  • Retiring objects and dreams that no longer serve me
  • Retiring and surrendering situations I cannot change
  • Retiring, releasing, and lowering high expectations of myself and others
  • Experiencing heartwarming retirement activities

Phrases of the Year:

"What can I retire today?"

"Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth."
(from The Desiderata by Max Ehrmann)

Symbol of the Year:
     This means New Beginning

Yes, I'm still ambitious. Yes, it's still plenty of goals. But I'm giving myself a break. My goals have far, far fewer books and puzzles and parks and craft projects than in the last few years.

I've got this!
