Double the Love

The hearts are seeking me out again!

I was washing the windows on my car, inside and out. When I opened the driver's side door, this 1 inch plastic "crystal" heart charm was on my car seat! I honestly don't recall seeing it anywhere before ... not in a geocache, not something stored in a pocket or purse, not at all! Dale said he didn't plant it for me to find, either. Its origin is a mystery.

About 45 minutes later while having chili and crackers for lunch, this cracker crust slid out of the packet.

Yeah. I just go with it now. I'll receive all the love that's offered.

Salute!

The stitching is done on Flag of Stars by Bent Creek!!

Or is that "flag of stars and a heart"?

The completed stitching is approximately 5.5" square. I hope to turn this into a 12" x 12" pillow cover in the next few days.

A Bold Choice

For this crocheted purse, I decided on something bright and cheery.

A nice bright red with a couple white stripes, decorated with a large red and white flower placed smack dab in the middle of the purse front, centered on the large white stripe.

Lined with a red and white check gingham.

Now that I've figured out how to make stripes in this pattern, it's stirred my imagination. There are likely more stripes in my future.

This purse, too, will be donated to Bags of Love.

Hibiscus

From my 2009 trip to Hawaii.

I ran across a folder full of unedited photos. This one deserved a little love and attention.

Throwback Thursday: Life Squeezes Through

Pushing through the sidewalk on my morning walk. Down by Polites Park in Post Falls, Idaho.
September 2006

The hearts have been following me around for a long, long time.

Through the Bedroom Window

School started up again yesterday. One way Dale and I become aware of it is when the ballfield behind our house is busy every afternoon and evening with soccer practice and football games.

We don't mind at all that the bright stadium lights illuminate our entire backyard once the sun goes down. We love the sights and sounds of the kids - and the coaches constant call of, "Go! Go! Go!"

So much life!

New Favorite Lunch

Mmmmmm. Cranberry-Turkey sandwich made on an onion bagel alongside jalapeno flavored Kettle chips and raspberry iced tea.

Showin' the love.

Hearts. They find me everywhere!

Progress

I've returned to stitching Flag of Stars by Bent Creek. I started it in June , then put it aside when I got busy with sewing and crochet projects. I've made nice progress so far on this long holiday weekend. Over the last three days I stitched in all the white that you see, and started in on a red row.

I have no deadline for finishing it, which is nice because I have no pressure. I can stitch along at a leisurely pace while knocking some romcoms and documentaries off my Netflix queue.

Simple Pleasures #24 - Blackout Curtains

For over 4-1/2 years, I've been complaining about how excess morning light wakes me up too early. Today Dale and I installed blackout curtains.

So, so pretty. And they do the job.

Bonus: That knocks another thing off my 24/2024 list! As a reward, I bought a grommet kit that I'll use to make some bookmarks out of cardstock for Bags of Love. (I needed another kind of craft, right?)

Simple Pleasures #23 - Debi's Plant

I feel a little glow every time I water this plant in our entryway.

My high school friend Debi gave it to me when she visited a few months ago.

Hey Debi! It's still alive!
