This is such an unimpressive project that I nearly didn't bother posting about it. But darn it! This win has been a long time coming.
When we moved to Oregon just over 5 years ago, we learned that restaurants don't automatically offer you a plastic straw with your drinks. You can ask for one. Or you can have a paper straw. I'm not a fan.
So I bought myself both metal and silicone reusable straws. I kept a couple in my purse, but pulling them out to use them was ... yucky. So I figured I make something to hold them in.
Then the pandemic hit. We stopped going out to restaurants for nearly 3 years. Straws didn't live in my purse anymore. Instead, they lived near my sewing machine ... which wasn't working properly.
Last year I got my sewing machine fixed.
Today I finally got around to making a drawstring pouch. I used some fabric left over from a pillowcase, of all things.
The straws can live in my purse once again. Now I can feel like a more proper environmentally aware Oregonian.
Today, I'm celebrating this little win. Won't you celebrate with me?
