Polished Rocks

In addition to the sea shells my neighbors gifted me last summer, they also gave me these gems-of-the-earth.

The gift was passed to me in this intriguing black velvet pouch.

I spilled them into my hand. The polished stones glided smoothly through my fingers. The many colors and intricate veining are mesmerizing.

The purple and blue above, and the green and magenta below are my favorites.

If you have some good ideas on how I might use this splendid gift, please share them with me. I'd like to keep the stones and display them in some way, rather than give them away one at a time in geocaches. I don't really grow plants, so placing them on top of the soil won't work in our house. I'm stumped.
