Celebration Weekend

Today our family is celebrating both Mother's Day and Dale's birthday. We were so, so, so blessed to have Jodie stop by yesterday with these gifts of flower box kits and her presence.

The kits are made by a local outfit that takes reclaimed materials and turns them into something else. The kits came with all the reclaimed wood cut to size, the screws to put them together, and wildflower seeds to plant. They're about one foot long.

We sat in the garage and talked and laughed and told stories as we assembled the flower boxes. We don't have any soil yet, so won't be planting the seeds right away. In fact, we may make a bit more of a project out of them by lightly sanding them and painting them white. Then we'll place them around the perimeter of the yard along the fence line. Or maybe turn them into window boxes.

The gifts are lovely. The biggest gift of all was time with our daughter. The visit was needed by all three of us.
